2012 Summer OSR Performance Enhancement Program


Attention Thunder Families
 
 
 
 OSR   Physical  Therapy   is  pleased  to  partner   with  Gilbert  CrossFit  to  offer  this  unique  training  opportunity  to  AZSC Thunder  Athletes. The  program  is  an  all- inclusive  strength  and  conditioning  training  experience,  designed  to  meet  and  exceed  the  performance  demands  of  the  AZSC  Thunder  level  of  competition.  The  primary  goal  of  the  Summer  2012 Performance Enhancement  Program  is  to  safely  and  sensibly  improve  the  athletic  strength,  power,  agility,  and speed needed  to  take  the  athlete’s  on- ‐field  performance  to  the  next  level.    
Program Focus Points
• For  Preliminary  Movement  Analysis,  we  will  see  the  athlete  in  the  OSR  clinic,  prior  to  the  program  start,  to   complete  the  OSR  Functional  Movement  Screen,  where  we  will  identify  “at  risk”  conditions  and  deficits  that  may  predispose  the  athlete  to  injury.    This  screen  helps  the  Physical  Therapist  communicate  to  the  athlete  and  to  the trainer  some  key  areas  of  emphasis  to  work  on  throughout  the  program.  
• For  Strength,  we  press,  pull,  squat,  and  dead  lift  which  require  the  body  to  work  through  a  large  range  of   motion.  

• For  Power,  we  properly  teach  the  Olympic  lifts  such  as  power  clean,  snatch,  and  jerk  to  be  performed  correctly   and  safely  at  high  velocities.  We  also  jump,  throw,  and  swing  weighted  objects  that  all  focus  on  creating  valuable
hip  explosion.  

• For  Speed  and  Agility,  we  focus  on  footwork  and  technique  utilizing  interval  training,  cone  courses,  ladders,   towing,  and  over- ‐speed  assisted  running  drills.  

 
Program Segments / Timeframe
 
 • Segment  One: June  4  –  June  30,  2012     Monday,  Wednesday,  and  Friday  2:30  –  3:30  PM  
             - NOTE:  Prerequisite  OSR  Functional  Movement  Screens  will  be  individually            scheduled for  Sat,  June  2,  2012  

• Segment  Two: July  9  –  August  4,  2012     Monday,  Wednesday,  and  Friday  2:30  –  3:30  PM
              - NOTE:  Prerequisite  OSR  Functional  Movement  Screens  will  be  individually  scheduled          for  Sat,  July  7,  2012

Cost of the Program
• One  program  segment  consists  of  12  training  sessions  (sessions  are  capped  at  16  athletes)  
• The  program  cost,  per  athlete,  is  $120.00
