Thunder Update - 6/12/2012
Thunder Families,
Here is some important information as we all begin to order our uniforms:
- The e-mail from Eurosport should arrive sometime today or tomorrow. If you do not receive it by the end of day tomorrow then please let thunder@arizonasoccerclub.com know.
- In a cost saving effort, we made a decision to NOT have Nike training shirts. Therefore, you will not be ordering these through Eurosport. We will be ordering training shirts from another vendor and will have these available for purchase in late July or early August. This move should save about $10 on each training shirt. Please plan on spending around $5 or $6 per shirt.
- Please remember that uniform kits are used for two years. We have tried to balance quality with value. Could we have gone with a cheaper kit? Sure. However, we need quality since the uniforms will be worn dozens of times in a two year period. As previously communicated, each kit should be roughly $300. We hope that you can see the value once you break the cost down over two years.
On a side note, it appears the weather will cooperate today, so Thunder training is on.
As always, we appreciate your support of Arizona Soccer Club - well on our way to becoming THE elite soccer club in Arizona.
GO THUNDER!

Hello Thunder Families,
Well we made it through week two. As we start week three of summer skills training, we want to let everyone know that as the heat index continues to rise we will begin to update our website and our face book page letting everyone know if practice is canceled. If the temperature is 110 or above at the time of training, we will cancel that day's training session. Please note, we will continue to give the players multiple water breaks and we encourage all players to drink plenty of water prior to training. If you have not signed up for the text message notification, please go to our website and click on field closure to sign up.

Soccer Tips - How To Improve Your Vision
How To Improve Your Vision
What is vision?

Vision is the ability to see opportunities and obstacles
on the soccer field efficiently (quick and effective).

Some players are born with a degree of natural vision.
However, this is definitely a skill you can (and must) develop
over time with enough practice.
However, this is definitely a skill you can (and must) develop

Vision Tip #1:
Get your head up! There isn't a secret tip to improving
your vision. It comes down to you consciously getting your
head up and looking around as much as possible.
Most players have their head down when they play:
when they receive a pass, when they make a run, when they dribble.
Their head is down looking at the ground.

Vision Tip #2
Watch professional soccer. I say this sooooo much, but are you
actually doing it!? This is so important for your development.
And in regardless to this article, it will help you improve
your vision tremendously.
By watching professional players perform at top speed
in game situations similar to what you experience every time
you play, you can learn the right plays to make in the right situations.
It will also help you realize opportunitiesthat before
you may have overlooked.

Soccer Tips - Learn How to Play the Ball Faster
Learn How To Play Football Faster
Would you like to feel faster and smarter
than everyone else on the field? Read this article all
the way to the end and you can better understand how to
play at a speed higher than the competition.
than everyone else on the field? Read this article all
the way to the end and you can better understand how to
play at a speed higher than the competition.

Follow These Simple Principles To Play Football Faster:
Get Your Head Up. You cannot play quickly if your eyes are
looking down at the ground. If you want to improve your vision
it comes down to you telling yourself to "get your head up" more often;
with the ball, without the ball, your head should be up and
your eyes should be actively scanning the field.
Attack. If you don't know what to do, keep it simple. Before
the ball even hits your foot, your head is up, and you are asking:
Can I attack? If yes, what is the best form of attack. Usually passing
to a teammate and advancing to get the ball back is your best option,
but if there is some open space to dribble into, take it with speed.
Keep possession. If you cannot attack directly, keep possession of the
ball. Without possession of the ball, the other team cannot score.
Without possession of the ball, the other team is forced to chase you,
get tired, and consequently leave gaps in their defense for you to ATTACK!
Keep moving. Standing still in the same spot is the worst thing you can
do if you want to play quicker. Continually change your passing angles.
Support the play or make a run into new space to get a pass.
When you pass the ball, don't admire your pass, move into
new space and get that ball back.

In the end you have to push yourself.
On your own, in team practices, in real games:
Can you do everything faster?
If you are always trying to push the speed at which
you play, eventually it will become so natural to you that
you will only have two speeds: 1) fast and 2) faster.
*I should quickly address rhythm of play. There are certain situations
in games where you need to slow the play down, keep possession, let
your team relax and regain your composure. But even then, the
basic skills are performed with speed and efficiency.
