Happy Thanksgiving from AZSC

Hello Arizona Soccer Club Families,

As we have just completed our Fall Recreational season and season one of Port of Subs & State League, and as we head into the long holiday weekend we would like to wish everyone involved with Arizona Soccer Club  (recreational or competitive) a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
None of our success could be done without your involvement and support.  We do have a lot to be grateful for.  Here is a quick recap of our recent success:

Grassroots Recreational Program
For those of you that do not already know, Arizona Soccer Club has been selected by the Town of Queen Creek to run their recreational youth soccer program.  Our first game in Queen Creek will be on December 8, 2012.  We are extremely excited to have this opportunity and look forward to a great long-term partnership with the Town.
We are also gearing up for our Gilbert Winter 2013 season.  This will be held at Crossroads Park starting January 12, 2013.  Registration ends soon!
Between the two programs we hope to have approximately 1,600-1,700 participants just for our winter season!  To all of our volunteers that spend countless hours to make this club run, seeing all of these youth out there enjoying themselves on aSaturday morning makes it all worth while.
Also, we are offering free soccer clinics as a service to our community.  On November 16, 2012, Coach Davey Lopez and Coach Beny Sanchez held a free clinic for all ages.  We had a great turnout of 150 players and all appeared to have great time.
Thunder Competitive Program

A lot of great things are happening with our Thunder program!  Two years ago at this time we had 150-160 players registered.  This year we are at 350-360 players.  With this growth, we have experienced many new challenges as a leadership group.  We have gone from a small competitive program to a medium sized program.  Knowing this we are looking at all aspects of the program and we realize that we need to be willing to change to accommodate our growth.
At Arizona Soccer Club, we have always had a unique culture - one that puts the kids before anything else.  This has created a family feel - a community within a community.  We will do what we can to preserve this feel, but as we grow this become more and more difficult.  What will not change is our MO - putting the kids before anything else.  We strongly feel that if we continue to operate with this guiding principal at the forefront, then we will continue to see long-term success.  There are time when we are faced with making difficult decisions - some which are not popular - but if they are in the best interest of the club as a whole then we have an obligation to make these tough calls.  We will do everything in our power to keep the consequences of rapid growth to a minimum.

Season 1 highlights:
Season One Thunder Results:
Teams Moving Up a Division: 15
Teams Staying in their Division: 9
Teams Moving Down a Division: 2
Total Thunder Teams: 26 plus 1 satellite team from Yuma = 27

Total number of Thunder Wins=66
Total Number of Thunder Loses=33
Total Number of Thunder Ties: 12
- 3 tournament championships
- All state level teams remaining in State League, with two moving up from Division II to Division 1
- 1 Port of Subs League team moving to State League Division II
- A number of players from Arizona Soccer Club invited to players pools for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Youth Olympic Program (YOP)
- Another successful Turkey Cup (Great Job Mom's) with a record number of canned food donated to a Gilbert based food bank
One thing I wanted to touch on as well.  I had a coach from another youth program (American Football) approach me make the following statement:
"I have seen your club many nights over the past few weeks and wanted to compliment you on the professionalism of the organization and how well each of your teams look.  From an outsiders perspective, you all appear to be on the same page and have the same goals."

Now we all know that it does get crazy, but it is one of our main goals at Arizona Soccer Club to have the leadership (Board of Directors, Coaching Staff, Administrative Staff) all on the same page.  We want our customers (the parents) and our consumers (the players) to believe in what we are doing.  For that to happen we have to have solidarity within our leadership.  We continue to make this a priority and hope this translates to an even more successful Season II.

In closing, we know that none of this would be possible without all the families within our Grassroots and Competitive programs, so we thank you all for the support and dedication to Arizona Soccer Club.  From our family to your, please have a very safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Arizona Soccer Club's Leadership Team
